Personality Is Influenced By The Age 30 Or If It s Mind...

The question on everybody’s mind is can personality change? Over many decades, researchers have been determining whether the development of personality is set by the age 30 or if it continues to develop over time. The analysis of personality, whether it can change and the impacts of previous experiences are all interpreted throughout the text, in order to determine whether personality changes. It will be argued that personality is influenced by experience and events not the measurement of time, thus enforcing the argument that personality can change throughout and individual’s lifespan. According to Lilienfeld, Lynn, Namy, Woolf, (2010) the term personality refers to ‘individual patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that tend to persist across time and contexts†. Personality is more than individual differences; personality is how people interact and evolve in certain environments. All types of environments shape how people process thoughts and action. Five broad dimensions are used when trying the measure an individual’s personality. The five dimensions include; neuroticism, agreeableness, extroversion, conscientiousness and openness-to-experience. There are three approaches to personality; clinical, correlational and experimental. Each approach allows researchers to distinguish the concept of personality throughout the lifespan, using conventional methods.
